Community Engagement Session Planned To Discuss Boat Ramp Upgrades

Tsartlip’s Boat Ramp has been a key economic driver for the community for many years.

That being said, years of use and inclement weather have taken their toll on the ramp and surrounding ecosystems.

While recent upgrades included the addition of the Boat Ramp Office which occurred along with other minor updates last year, the structure itself has been in need of reinforcement. Community members have been clear;  they want to be a part of the conversation about what they’d like to see done with the ramp.

Accordingly, Director of Stewardship, Will Morris has begun to gather relevant information to present in a Community Engagement Session; dates to be announced.

Tsartlip has engaged the services of Aquaparian environmental consultants, Studio 541, the architecture firm that designed the Health Building, as well as a contractor to assess the current situation and provide options going forward.

These upgrades are all part of the capacity-building plan initiated under the Salish Seas Initiative, which has already made the purchase of two boats possible. Next will be the acquisition of a F550 Truck and chassis with a tow hitch, which will help ensure mobility of the boats in and around the ramp area, among other things.
