Meet Rosa, Tsartlip’s Community Health Nurse. Read her introduction interview below.

Can you tell us a bit about who you are and where you’re from?

My name is Rosa, and I’m originally from Toronto, but I’ve been on the island for four years. My background in nursing is in maternity care as well as pediatrics. As well, I’ve done some work in the community, specifically in corrections nursing. I have a 16-month old son and two dogs. I like to bake.

What experience and expertise do you bring to the table?

Family centered nursing care, especially with new moms, postpartum, and pediatrics for sure.

What’s your title and what are you up to at Tsartlip?

I’m the Community Health Nurse and we’re trying to get some vaccine clinics up and running. We’re going to be looking at doing a blood pressure clinic in the new year and just getting to know the community better and learning what the needs are.

Is there anything you want to share with community members about your role and Tsartlip health?

I’m just eager to learn what their gaps are and what they feel they need extra help and support on, from nursing. So I’d love for them to be a voice and tell me what they want from me. I want to be able to meet them where they’re at.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I’m at home with my son. Walking the dogs, I like to go for hikes, I like to bake, I do crafts. I like to work out but I do that at home. Yeah, that kind of takes up my time to be honest.
