Job Summary
The Tsartlip First Nation is pleased to invite qualified applicants to apply to the permanent, full-time Food Security Coordinator position in the Children, Youth and Families Department.
The Food Security Coordinator (Coordinator) is responsible for developing and coordinating food security initiatives. The Coordinator will inspire the Tsartlip community to contribute to their own food sovereignty, to produce food locally, to encourage the eating of traditional foods and promote the continuation of traditional food sharing networks.

The wage range for this position is $29 -$30 per hour.
Education and Experience
- Degree, diploma or certification in Horticulture, gardening, urban agriculture or organic farming preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience planning, developing and implementing community-based food delivery
programs and resources; or - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Experience researching funding opportunities and preparing funding proposals;
- Experience developing and delivering workshops;
- Experience developing, managing and controlling operating budgets;
- Experience developing a variety of written reports, policy and procedures, and other documentation;
- Experience working in a First Nations community an asset;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle plus a clean driver’s abstract and appropriate insurance
required; - Clean criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector required.
- Valid standard first aid and CPR certificate may be required.
About the Tsartlip First Nation
The Tsartlip First Nation is one of five communities that constitute the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. Located on the west side of the Saanich Peninsula (south east Vancouver Island), the W̱SÁNEĆ people have lived on these lands since time immemorial.
Our vision is to honour the past, while moving forward and creating opportunities for our future generations. We have a population of 1038 registered members living both on and off Tsartlip First Nation territory.
Tsartlip 653 is comprised of Goldstream IR13, Mayne Island IR6, Senanus Island IR10 and South Saanich IR1 covering approximately 334 hectares in size and includes single family residential and leased homes, band administrations and commercial developments.
