On March 4th, 2025, Tsartlip community members, staff, and leadership gathered to review and provide input on design options for the new Tsartlip Wellness Centre, childcare facility, and sports field, moving Tsartlip one step closer to breaking ground on the new facilities.
The new Wellness Centre, childcare facility, and sports field coming to Tsartlip are community-centered projects. Originally inspired by the community’s call for safe places where Tsartlip children, youth, and families can engage in recreation and receive culturally appropriate preventative wellness services, Tsartlip staff have taken care to involve the community every step of the way, from determining the most important needs to address to choosing the right architects.
At the event on March 4th – which took place from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Tsartlip Health Centre – the community had the opportunity to provide feedback on the look and feel of the new spaces. After a presentation on the current design plans and yet-to-be-decided design possibilities for each facility, attendees visited a series of stations to place votes and make comments on design elements such as the type of turf used on the soccer field, the type of outdoor seating areas at the childcare centre, and what types of outdoor gathering spaces are most important. Attendees also enjoyed dinner, crafts, and door prizes.
The interactive event attracted an excellent turnout of community members, staff, and leadership, resulting in rich discussion that will help make the new Wellness Centre, childcare facility, and sports field both aesthetically pleasing and functionally appropriate for the community’s needs.
With the community’s input in hand, project leaders are equipped to round out the feasibility phase of the project. Once this phase is complete and supported by the community, Chief, and Council, project leaders will move forward with detailed design work and construction.
