There is a new service coming to the Tsartlip Health Centre, speech language pathology. SLP’s Emma and Marina will be in community Oct 6th from 1-3 if community members would like to drop in and say hello, ask questions, or have their child assessed. More information will be coming soon about regular clinic dates at the health centre. In the meantime, members can call the Health Centre for more information (250-652-4473).
SLP’s are health professionals that work with children and their families to address different speech, voice, and language challenges. For example, SLP’s help children learn how to form sounds, speak clearly and easily, increase the number of words they can say and/or understand, and put words together in a sentence.

Emma Fletcher, Speech-Language Pathologist
I grew up in W̱SÁNEĆ territory of the Coast Salish people before moving to Meanjin, Australia where I completed my studies in speech and language. I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to Elders of both lands, past and present. I am looking forward to listening and learning from the families of Tsartlip First Nation community and hope to be an effective partner in supporting children to develop their communication skills!
Marina Powell, Speech-Language Pathologist
I have lived my whole life in WSANEC territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. I pay my respects to their Elders, past and present, and express my gratitude for the wisdom, resilience, and strength they have shared with us. I am committed to learning more about their history, culture and traditions, and to working towards reconciliation and the restoration of Indigenous sovereignty. Ensuring that all children are given a way to communicate is my priority. I work hard to find a way so that every child has the language to share ideas, tell stories, and share joy.
