Tsartlip Admin Building Gets A New Roof

In late February, the Tsartlip Administration Building re-roofing project began. Now, into March the project is almost halfway done. Weather depending, the entire roof will be successfully replaced by April.

The roof replacement project had been identified as a need for some time. In fact, the Admin office roof had been leaking badly for about four years. The staff had taken to placing five-gallon pails around the office to catch the rainwater so it will be a relief to have this work complete.

While the roof replacement is taking place, a joint project between Tsartlip Health and Capital Projects also enabled a Youth Apprentice Initiative. Under the initiative, three Tsartlip youth are receiving valuable training from Soare Contracting. The youth are learning the basics of the roofing trade and work safety while also earning income.

Director of Capital Projects Brad Javier says, “It’s great to start on a project that we have long identified as needing to happen and starting on a path to having it done and seeing it realized. We’re working with our health department, youth, admin, and a great contractor to get it done.”
