Meet Louise Barkman, Tsartlip’s New Home and Community Care Nurse

My name is Louise Barkman, and I was born and raised in traditional W̱SÁNEĆ land– my father was Aboriginal, from Quebec, and my mother was of Scottish and Irish descent. My father passed away when I was young, and I was adopted at the age of 16 along with my younger sister, into a wonderful loving family. My adoptive “mom” is the current nurse at Tsawout!

I completed nursing school in 2019 at UVIC, and worked in a complex surgical unit. I found my favourite part of nursing was the connection and interactions with patients. Because of that, I chose to pursue community nursing.

I am so excited to be a part of the health team at Tsartlip and cannot wait to begin my journey here and get to know everyone!

Louise works Mon-Thurs 8:30-4:30 Contact her at: chn@tsartlip.com or 250-652-4473.
