Saanich Fair Seeking Artists to Display their Crafts

The Saanich fair wants to provide an update on the vendor spots donated to sell items,  which have now been filled.

However, they are still looking for artwork to be displayed at the fair.

Native Artwork Display Saanich Fair 2021

The Saanich Fair has been working together with the elders to promote an inclusive respectful 2021 Saanich Fair. Opening ceremonies Saturday Sept.4th 12:00pm with Chief Don Tom, Blessings and Prayers by May Sam, and the Songhees Dancers will open this years’ Saanich Fair on the main stage and a Drum Circle and Tradition Song will close the fair on the main stage Monday Sept.6th at 4:00pm.

The fair has set aside the Juniper Room in the main hall this year as a First Nations Display Room featuring local artists and crafting. We are hoping to engage the general public and raise interest and awareness of Native Arts and Crafts.

This room is a “display room only”.

We would like to have 8-10 artists: knitters, weavers, carvers, painters, sculptures and beads and jewelry artists display their wares.

The items will not be sold at the fair but promotion of where they can be purchased is recommended.

Each of the above artists will have an 8×4 table to display their crafts

May Sam is coming to display her knitting and blankets

We are working on bringing in a Traditional Fish Netting Display.

Please contact Catriona McHattie at 250-652-3314  to let me know if you are able to display your work at one of the tables.

**If not would this display area be of interest to you to volunteer in?**

Note: If you are interested in selling your artwork at the Fair we have a Commercial Booth Area the cost is $500 for the weekend and a 10 x 10 tent is provided.

Sincerely;

Catriona McHattie
