Job Summary

The Tsartlip First Nation is pleased to invite applicants to apply to the permanent, full time Director of Capital Projects, Public Works and Housing

The Director of Capital Projects, Public Works and Housing is responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of the Tsartlip Housing Program, Nation infrastructure systems, Nation owned buildings, and other physical assets. The Director has oversight responsibility for research, technical contract support and advisory services related to infrastructure projects and all other capital projects on reserve. The Director has oversight responsibility for the Housing Program and functions both at the strategic and operational levels of the department. The Director is a key member of the Tsartlip senior management team.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 – $120,000.

Education & Experience

  • Certified Professional in one of the following areas: Project Management, Housing Projects/Construction,
    Business, Urban Planning, Land Management, Environmental Management, or related field;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or Science, or a related degree, or another Bachelor’s degree or college diploma with sufficient experience in a related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years working with Federal funding regimes;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in First Nations communities;
  • Experience developing, managing and controlling projects and operating budgets ;
  • Experience in housing, building and infrastructure maintenance and project management;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing, directing and leading employees; and liaising with various regulatory agencies;
  • Experience developing a variety of written reports, policy and procedures, analyses, presentations and other documentation;
  • Clear, current criminal record check;
  • Valid class 5 BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Preference may be given to persons of Aboriginal ancestry and/or having knowledge of the W̱SÁNEĆ culture and traditions.

The Tsartlip First Nation is one of five communities that constitute the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. Located on the west side of the Saanich Peninsula (south east Vancouver Island), the W̱SÁNEĆ people have lived on these lands since time immemorial.

We have a population of 1038 registered members living both on and off Tsartlip First Nation territory. Tsartlip 653 is comprised of Goldstream IR13, Mayne Island IR6, Senanus Island IR10 and South Saanich IR1 covering approximately 334 hectares in size and includes single family residential and leased homes, band administrations and commercial developments.
