Meet Dr. Ryan Mader.

He will be working in the Tsartlip Health Clinic on Tuesday Afternoons.

Hello. My name is Ryan Mader. I grew up in Southwestern Ontario. My youth was largely spent paddling the lovely labyrinth of lakes and rivers speckled across Ontario and Quebec. Over 25-years ago, I moved to the West to pursue training and racing in Whitewater Slalom Canoeing on the magnificent Chilliwack River. Through racing, I was fortunate to see many unique and beautiful corners of the globe. Since then, I have lived and worked in the Yukon, Thailand, and Vancouver. Prior to studying conventional medicine, I completed my doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine diploma. In 2007, I enrolled in the University of British Columbia’s Medical Program. Upon completion, I moved, with my spouse and two children, to Victoria to begin my training with UBC’s Aboriginal Family Medicine Program. Through this program, I was first introduced and welcomed to the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. Once qualified, I continued providing physician services on the South Island. For the past 7-years, I have worked providing primary care for service members of the Canadian Forces. This work includes providing healthcare for participants of the Raven Indigenous Youth Program. When not working, you will often still find me floating on the water pulling canoes and kayaks, only just not quite as fast as I used to. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the W̱SÁNEĆ communities and offer my service to the Salt Water People. Háy̓sxʷ q̓ə.

Anyone who would like to book with Ryan can call the Tsartlip Health Office 250-652-4473 and book with Alena Peters.
