Meet Penina, Tsartlip’s Community Programs Coordinator. Read her introduction interview below.

Interviewer: Can you tell us a bit about who you are and where you’re from?

ÍY SȻÁĆEL MEQ SÁN my name is Penina and my WILNEW SNA is ȾEHENEPTENISIYE. I’m from Tsartlip as well as Samoa. I come from the Olsen and Va’a families.

What experience and expertise do you bring to the table?

Since I had the privilege of being raised in community, I’ve been so fortunate to be surrounded by so much culture and tons of family. Being taught from a young age the core values of W̱SÁNEĆ and now recently have a lot of experience working with youth of all ages in W̱SÁNEĆ.

What’s your title and what are you up to at Tsartlip?

My job title is called Community Programs Coordinator. So, I’ll be kind of all over the place helping a lot of people run their programs. And engaging with our community to see what type of things our community can benefit from.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

On my time off I love to travel and spend time with friends.
