Drive Safe course: For youth ages 16 and up
Date: April 1st at 9-4pm, Limited to 10 students, please call into the office and sign up, first come first serve. Due to the cost of running this course we strongly recommend that students commit to the full day. This program has been designed to help student prepare for and obtain their BC Learners licence and has been divided into 2 sections
In class instruction
1. Traffic Signs, Signals and Road Markings
- Regulatory, warning, school, playgrounds
- Traffic lights
- Lines and painted roads
Rules of the Road
- Intersections
- Lane usage
- Right of way
2. Your responsibility
- Emotions
- Impairment (penalties)
- Aggression
3. Sharing the Road
- Pedestrians re: cross walks
- Vehicle, (buses, emergency vehicles and large trucks)
4. Emergency and Personal Strategies
5. Seeing, Thinking, Doing (Decision making)
This program is designed to have class involvement with a variety of activities, assignments, practice tests, videos, arts and crafts, take home assignments and group work. Prizes and incentives are offered for participation
