On September 14, 2022, a vessel sunk near the Octopus/Maple Bay area. The Canadian Coast Guard has requested vessels avoid the area, so they may remove the vessel as quickly as possible.
Currently, the Canadian Coast Guard has hired a contractor to lift the vessel out of the water. However, due to the tide cycle, the removal of the vessel will be delayed. Additional resources are on route.
The Canadian Coast Guard will be working to refloat and remove the vessel whilst leaving as little contamination as possible during this process.
